Cranberry Sauce with Jalapeno and Bourbon
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups balsamic vinegar
½ cup Bourbon
2 cups sugar
2 star anise
2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
5 jalapeno peppers, finely diced
Grated zest of 2 oranges
Bring vinegar, sugar and bourbon to a boil, over high heat. Use non-reactive saucepan. Stir till sugar dissolves. Add star anise, cranberries, jalapenos, orange zest and orange juice. Simmer for 20 minutes, stir occasionally. Remove sauce from heat, discard star anise. If sauce is too thin add 1tsp if pectin, mixing well. Raise heat and bring to a boil.
We served this at our Pre-Thanksgiving event and it had rave reviews! Enjoy!
